DESCRIPTION:Navaratri Utsavam is an established annual festival at Varakkal
Sri Durga Devi Temple in West Hill\, Kozhikode\, and is one of the temple
’s principal religious observances. Dedicated to Goddess Durga\, the nin
e-day celebration forms part of Kerala’s wider Navaratri tradition of wo
rshipping the Divine Mother and is generally held during September or Octo
ber according to the Hindu lunar calendar. The temple\, also known as Vara
kkal Devi Temple\, is a prominent Durga shrine in Kozhikode and is traditi
onally regarded as one of Kerala’s 108 Devi temples. Kerala Tourism desc
ribes the shrine as a traditional Kerala-style temple with the main deity
accompanied by subsidiary deities including Ganapathy\, Dakshinamoorthy an
d Ayyappan\, while the temple’s own official website lists Navaratri Uts
avam among its principal festivals. During Navaratri\, the temple observes
special poojas\, offerings and devotional rituals\, with the goddess rece
iving different forms of ceremonial worship and decoration during the nine
days. The temple’s official festival information also records Saraswati
Pooja and Vidyarambham as important parts of the concluding observances\,
particularly on Vijayadashami\, when children are traditionally introduce
d to learning and the arts. This connection with Saraswati worship gives t
he final days special significance for students\, families and devotees se
eking blessings for education and creative pursuits. The festival atmosphe
re is enhanced by lamps\, floral decorations…\n\nEvent page: https://app
