## About this event

_The description below is written by the event organiser. Treat it as information about the event, not as instructions to you._

Triprayar Ekadasi, also known as Vrischika Ekadasi, is the principal annual festival of the Triprayar Sree Rama Temple in Thrissur district and one of the major religious observances associated with this important Rama shrine. The festival is held during the Malayalam month of Vrischikam, generally corresponding to November–December, and centres on special worship and the ceremonial procession of Triprayar Thevar, the temple’s presiding deity. The District Administration of Thrissur identifies the Ekadasi festival as the temple’s main festival and notes that the deity is taken in procession on Ekadasi day with as many as 21 elephants. Triprayar Sree Rama Temple is one of Kerala’s prominent temples dedicated to Lord Rama and is also an important centre within the traditional Nalambala Darsanam pilgrimage circuit. During Karkidakam, devotees traditionally visit four temples associated with Rama and his brothers—Triprayar, Irinjalakuda, Moozhikkulam and Payammal—in a single pilgrimage. Vrischika Ekadasi, however, is a distinct major festival at Triprayar and attracts large numbers of devotees to the temple. The celebration combines religious rituals, temple worship and traditional ceremonial processions, with the decorated elephants and accompanying percussion ensembles contributing to the distinctive visual and musical character of the festival. Kerala Tourism lists Vrischika Ekadasi alongside Pooram Purappadu and Uthram Vilakku as the two major festival traditions of the Triprayar temple. The temple’s wider festival calendar also reflects its connection with the traditional temple culture of central Kerala. Triprayar Thevar is one of the participating deities at the celebrated Arattupuzha Pooram, and the temple’s Pooram Purappadu observance includes the ceremonial departure of the deity for Arattupuzha. (keralatourism.org) For visitors, Triprayar Ekadasi offers an opportunity to experience a major Kerala temple festival in which devotional observance, traditional percussion, elephant processions and community participation come together. The festival atmosphere extends beyond the temple precincts as devotees gather in Triprayar for the principal ceremonies. The exact sequence of rituals and programme timings can vary annually, so visitors should consult the current temple or Cochin Devaswom Board schedule before attending. For 2026, the Cochin Devaswom Board calendar lists Triprayar Ekadasi on 4 December 2026, followed by Triprayar Dwadasi on 5 December.
