DESCRIPTION:St. Monica Church\, Kumbla\, is a Roman Catholic parish in Kumb
 la\, Kasaragod district\, under the Diocese of Mangalore\, with a parish h
istory extending back to 1934. The present parish began on 14 October 1934
as St Philomena Church\, a small chapel established from the Manjeshwar p
arish. In 1970\, the foundation stone was laid for a new church dedicated
to St Monica\, and the present church complex subsequently underwent exten
sion and renovation\, with the renovated church and presbytery inaugurated
in November 2000. The parish has since developed into an important centre
of worship\, education and community activity for Catholics in the Kumbla
area. The church celebrates its annual feast in honour of St Monica\, tra
ditionally observed on the second Wednesday of November. The 2024 annual f
east\, for example\, was held on 13 November\, reflecting the established
November observance associated with the parish. The celebration provides a
n opportunity for parishioners and visitors to participate in Catholic dev
otional practices and community gatherings surrounding the patronal feast.
The parish’s religious life extends beyond the annual celebration\, wit
h regular Masses\, prayer gatherings\, youth programmes and other activiti
es forming part of its continuing community life. The church grounds have
also hosted diocesan and deanery-level programmes\, including Bible classe
s and youth events\, demonstrating the parish’s wider role within the Ca
tholic community of Kasaragod. St Monica Church is…\n\nEvent page: https
