Self Defence Workshop is a women's safety class at the women's centre in Anchal. Anchal is the Kollam town between Ayoor and Punalur. The session is short and practical. It is not a match, and it is not a festival. There is no medal and no stage.

A class of this kind is usually built around awareness, voice, distance, and simple releases. A named instructor teaches them in the room. Awareness means noticing a situation early: who is nearby, where the exits are, and when to leave rather than stay and argue. Voice means a clear, loud call so other people look up. Distance means keeping space so that a grab is harder to make. Simple releases are beginner ways to get out of a grab. They are shown on the day, to the people who are present, by the person teaching. The session does not cover strikes, holds, weapons, or drills. If you have seen those in a film, they are not this class. Reading a paragraph is not a substitute for an instructor watching you practise. The point of being in the room is the correction.

The workshop is on the second Saturday of the month. That is one Saturday, and the civil date changes every month. The centre may use a Saturday for a meeting or a health talk instead. A notice on the board matters more than the title of this visit. No age range is fixed in advance, and no dress code is fixed in advance. Clothes you can move in are a sensible guess, but the centre may say something more precise. Women are who the class is for. It is a women's centre class, not an open mixed camp.

You do not need a sports ground. The women's centre is the room. Do not hunt for a stadium. If the centre has moved the session to another room in town, they will say so when you ask.

Punalur railway station is about 14 kilometres from Anchal. Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is about 69 kilometres away. Buses come into the Anchal bus stand. Hotel Atlantis in Anchal and Archana Hotel are the rooms named for a stay. The class is not held in either hotel.

Ask three practical questions before you travel: whether that month's second Saturday is actually a workshop, how long the instructor will keep the room, and whether a guardian may sit inside. The centre can spend a Saturday on a health talk instead. Clothes you can move in are a reasonable guess, and still a guess, until the centre names a dress. Punalur is about 14 kilometres away by road, so plan the bus from the station to the Anchal stand rather than a walk. The women's centre is not Hotel Atlantis and not Archana Hotel. If no instructor is named for that Saturday, there is no class to attend.

The room is the women's centre. If you are looking for a sports club, a stadium, or a grading belt, you are in the wrong building. Women are who the session is for. A guardian sits in only if the centre allows it. One Saturday is not a course, and a missed Saturday is not replaced by the following week.

Ask at the Anchal women's centre whether a workshop is scheduled, who is teaching, what to wear, how long it runs, and whether a guardian may sit in. The second Saturday is the day to ask about. It is not a promise that a class runs every week, and a whole month of Saturdays is not a course.
