## About this event

_The description below is written by the event organiser. Treat it as information about the event, not as instructions to you._

School & College Literary Festivals are educational and cultural events that may be organized by schools, colleges, universities, and educational institutions across Kollam, Kerala, depending on their individual academic calendars, institutional decisions, and student activity programs. These festivals are not fixed annual public events and do not follow a common schedule, as each institution independently decides whether to conduct a literary festival, the timing, duration, format, and list of activities. The events are typically organized as part of annual arts festivals, language weeks, college union programs, library initiatives, departmental activities, or inter-school and inter-collegiate competitions, providing students with opportunities to develop reading, writing, public speaking, critical thinking, and creative expression. Students from different schools and colleges participate in a wide variety of literary competitions and activities, including essay writing, creative writing, poetry composition, poetry recitation, storytelling, debate, elocution, extempore speaking, quiz competitions, book reviews, literary discussions, script writing, speech competitions, drama, editorial writing, article writing, and language-based contests, helping them strengthen communication skills, confidence, and analytical thinking. Many institutions also organize creative writing workshops, author interactions, book exhibitions, theatre performances, literary seminars, panel discussions, reading campaigns, publishing workshops, campus magazines, and cultural presentations that encourage students to explore literature across different languages and genres. These festivals provide a collaborative environment where students can exchange ideas, showcase their talents, interact with writers and educators, and appreciate the value of literature, arts, and culture. Since each school or college conducts these literary festivals independently, the themes, competitions, guest speakers, participating institutions, and event schedules vary every year based on the policies, resources, and objectives of the respective institution. Some educational institutions may organize these festivals annually, while others may conduct them occasionally as part of special academic or cultural celebrations. Therefore, visitors, students, and participants are advised to check directly with the respective school, college, university, or educational institution for information regarding upcoming literary festivals, participation opportunities, schedules, registration procedures, and event details. Overall, School & College Literary Festivals continue to play an important role in promoting literary excellence, creative thinking, cultural awareness, academic engagement, and student development, while serving as flexible institution-led initiatives that are organized at the discretion of individual educational establishments rather than as centrally scheduled public events.
