DESCRIPTION:Punalur 5K Run is a community road run of five kilometres on a 
 town route in Punalur\, the taluk town in Kollam. Five kilometres is long 
 enough to be a real run and short enough that many community events let pe
 ople walk part of it. Whether walking is welcome\, and whether the course 
 is officially measured\, depends on the people holding the run. The number
  in the title is the distance they are aiming at. It is not a certificate 
 that the road has been measured with a wheel.\n\nA community run is a mass
  start for local people. Everyone begins together rather than in a stagger
 ed elite field. A shared start does not by itself mean chip timing\, a fin
 ish gantry\, or a results list. Those belong to races that have been equip
 ped for them. No prize list is fixed here\, and no age group is fixed here
 . Children\, adults\, and older people may all be in the same crowd\, or t
 he organisers may split them. You will know only when they say so. This 5K
  is not a half marathon held somewhere else in Kerala. A half marathon is 
 21.1 kilometres. Do not train for that distance because of this title.\n\n
 Punalur railway station is in town\, under a kilometre from the centre. Th
 e 1877 suspension bridge crosses the Kallada River. Both are landmarks. Ne
 ither is the start line unless the organisers say so. The town route is a 
 course they publish\, not a guess through the market. Do not invent a loop
  past the bridge and call it the run. Roads stay open to ordinary traffic
