DESCRIPTION:Vishukkani is an important Vishu observance at Kulathupuzha Sre
 e Sastha Temple in Kulathupuzha\, within Pathanapuram Taluk of Kollam dist
 rict. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa in the form of Bala Sastha a
 nd is recognised as one of Kerala’s 108 Sastha shrines. Located on the b
 anks of the Kulathupuzha River and surrounded by the forested landscape of
  eastern Kollam\, the shrine becomes an important centre of pilgrimage dur
 ing its Vishu Mahotsavam\, which is identified by the official Sabarimala 
 website as the temple’s important festival during April–May. Vishukkan
 i is the traditional Vishu practice of seeing an auspicious arrangement of
  objects as the first sight of the day. The arrangement commonly includes 
 rice\, fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, a mirror\, gold or other symbols of
  prosperity\, and an image of the deity\, with the display illuminated by 
 traditional lamps. The ritual expresses hopes for prosperity\, well-being 
 and auspiciousness in the year ahead and forms an important part of Kerala
 ’s Vishu traditions. At Kulathupuzha\, the Vishu observance takes place 
 within the wider festival calendar of the Bala Sastha temple. The temple
 ’s official information records the annual Tiruvutsavam from the fifth t
 o the fourteenth day of Medam\, while the Vishu Mahotsavam is identified a
 s a major festival during April and May. The shrine’s riverside setting 
 and traditional Kerala temple architecture add to the character of the pil
