DESCRIPTION:Nishagandhi Dance & Music Festival is a major classical arts fe
 stival organised by the Department of Tourism\, Government of Kerala\, at 
 Nishagandhi Auditorium in the Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds in Thiruvanantha
 puram. The festival brings together Indian classical dance and music\, pre
 senting established performers as well as accomplished artists from differ
 ent parts of the country. Its programmes have featured a wide range of cla
 ssical dance traditions\, including Bharatanatyam\, Kathak\, Kuchipudi\, M
 ohiniyattam and Odissi\, alongside concerts representing Carnatic\, Hindus
 tani and other Indian musical traditions. Carnatic music has formed an imp
 ortant part of the festival's programming\, with earlier editions presenti
 ng vocal concerts\, violin recitals\, nadaswaram performances and other in
 strumental presentations. A 2019 Nishagandhi programme\, for example\, inc
 luded Carnatic vocal performances by Vidushi S. Sowmya and Anantha Sai A.\
 , as well as a violin concert and veena performances. The festival's dance
  performances emphasise the expressive vocabulary\, rhythmic structures\, 
 storytelling and aesthetic traditions of India's classical forms\, while t
 he accompanying musicians provide an integral live musical dimension. Over
  the years\, Nishagandhi has also served as a platform for recognising dis
 tinguished figures in Indian music and dance through the Nishagandhi Puras
