DESCRIPTION:Malappuram Shuhada Maqbara is a historic mausoleum associated w
ith the Malappuram Shaheeds and located beside the Jama-at Mosque in Malap
puram town\, Kerala. The site forms part of an important Muslim pilgrimage
centre in the district and is closely connected with the historical and r
eligious traditions of the Malabar region. The Malappuram District Adminis
tration identifies the adjoining mausoleum as the resting place of the Mal
appuram Shaheeds\, whose brave exploits have been preserved in Mappila bal
lads\, the traditional Muslim ballad literature of northern Kerala. The ma
qbara therefore represents not only a place of remembrance but also a link
between religious devotion\, oral history and the cultural memory of the
Mappila community. The Jama-at Mosque and the mausoleum together form a si
gnificant heritage complex on the Malappuram–Vengara Road. The mosque is
recognised by Kerala Tourism as an important pilgrimage centre\, while th
e associated Shaheed mausoleum contributes to the historical importance of
the site. Visitors approaching the maqbara can encounter a living religio
us tradition in which remembrance of revered figures and martyrs remains i
ntertwined with prayer and community life. The site is also associated wit
 h the annual Nercha of the Jama-at Mosque\, a four-day religious observanc
e traditionally held in April. The Nercha provides a major occasion for de
votees to gather at the mosque and mausoleum\, bringing together religious
observances and longstanding community…\n\nEvent page: https://app.even
