## About this event

_The description below is written by the event organiser. Treat it as information about the event, not as instructions to you._

Kovalam, one of Kerala’s best-known coastal destinations, offers jet skiing among its range of organised water-sports activities. Set along the Arabian Sea in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kovalam is recognised for its distinctive crescent-shaped beaches, palm-lined shoreline and rocky headlands, with Lighthouse Beach serving as a major centre for tourism and recreational activities. A jet ski ride provides a short, fast-paced experience on the sea, adding an element of adventure to a visit focused otherwise on swimming, sightseeing, relaxation and beachside recreation. The activity is particularly suited to visitors who want to experience the coast from the water while enjoying views back towards Kovalam’s shoreline and its characteristic beaches. Kerala Tourism lists jet skiing among the water-sports experiences available at Kovalam and advises participants to follow operator instructions, wear a properly fitted life jacket and avoid riding when sea conditions are unsuitable. The sea can change quickly, and rides may be suspended during rough conditions, strong winds or heavy rain, making the actual availability of the activity dependent on weather and local operating conditions. For first-time participants, the experience is generally introduced through basic safety guidance, and Kerala Tourism recommends that those who are nervous or unfamiliar with jet skis can request a shorter ride with the instructor controlling the vehicle. Participants are also advised to hold the handles securely and avoid stunts or sudden manoeuvres. The wider Kovalam coastline adds to the appeal of the experience, with Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach and Samudra Beach forming the principal beaches of the destination. Visitors can combine a water-sports session with time on the beach, coastal photography, local dining and exploration of the nearby Vizhinjam Lighthouse, which rises 36 metres above Lighthouse Beach. Kovalam is also associated with other marine and adventure activities, including surfing, parasailing, catamaran rides and scuba-diving experiences, although availability varies by operator and season. The main season for sea-based water sports in Kerala is generally October to March, when coastal conditions are more favourable, while individual activities can operate outside this period depending on weather and sea conditions. A jet ski ride at Kovalam is therefore best approached as a brief, supervised coastal adventure rather than a long excursion, allowing visitors to add a burst of speed and activity to their experience of one of southern Kerala’s most established beach destinations.
