DESCRIPTION:Koodiyattam is one of Kerala’s oldest surviving theatrical tr
aditions\, combining Sanskrit dramatic literature with highly codified act
ing techniques and regional performance practices. Inscribed by UNESCO on
the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in
2008\, Kutiyattam is traditionally associated with temple theatres known
as Koothambalams. The form is distinguished by detailed facial expression\

performers and instruments contribute to the theatrical presentation. Trad

UNESCO describes Kutiyattam as a synthesis of Sanskrit classicism and Ker
