DESCRIPTION:Kanhileri Ardha Chamundeswari Temple in Kanhileri\, within Sree
 kandapuram Municipality in Kannur district\, is a traditional shrine close
 ly associated with the ritual culture of northern Kerala and the Theyyam t
 radition. The temple’s annual Theyyam-Thira festival is held for three d
 ays during Dhanu 12–14 of the Malayalam calendar\, corresponding approxi
 mately to 27–29 December\, and forms an important part of the shrine’s
  ritual calendar. The festival features Ardha Chamundi Theyyam along with 
 other ritual forms including Baali Theyyam and Malakkari Theyyam\; sources
  documenting the temple also record Nagakanya and Thekkan Gulikan among th
 e performances associated with the shrine. Ardha Chamundi is a relatively 
 rare Theyyam form in the Kannur region and is traditionally associated wit
 h the goddess who\, according to the ritual tradition\, emerged from the s
 acrificial fire of Lord Shiva. The performance combines elaborate headgear
  and costume\, distinctive facial decoration\, ritual movement and percuss
 ion\, creating a ceremonial setting in which the performer assumes the pre
 sence of the deity for the duration of the ritual. The temple itself is de
 scribed as a small traditional Kerala-style shrine\, with a square sanctum
  and additional sacred spaces associated with other deities. The annual fe
 stival encompasses more than the Theyyam performances alone: ritual worshi
