Alan Thilak Karate School

About this place

Alan Thilak Karate School is a martial arts training institution in Kerala associated with karate instruction, traditional Shito-Ryu practice, physical fitness and self-defence training. The school was founded by the late Dai Sensei Moses Thilak and has developed a network of instructors and branches across different parts of India and internationally. The organisation’s official information identifies Pathanamthitta among the areas where Alan Thilak Karate School has an instructor presence, while a local listing specifically identifies an Alan Thilak Karate School in Karikulam, Ranni, Pathanamthitta district. The Karikulam centre is listed for karate and self-defence classes, making it relevant to people searching for karate training in Ranni and the wider Pathanamthitta region. Alan Thilak Karate School follows the Thilak-ha Shito-Ryu approach, with the organisation describing Shito-Ryu as one of the major karate styles recognised by the World Karate Federation. Training associated with the school includes traditional karate techniques as well as elements of physical conditioning, self-defence and sports karate. Karate practice generally develops coordination, balance, flexibility, speed, physical fitness and controlled movement, while structured martial arts training also places emphasis on discipline and awareness. The school’s official history records participation by its students and instructors in national and international karate competitions, as well as instructor training, seminars and coaching camps. These activities form part of the broader educational and sporting environment associated with the institution, although specific programmes and schedules can vary between branches. For families and individuals in Pathanamthitta interested in martial arts, Alan Thilak Karate School provides a local connection to an established karate organisation rather than functioning as a conventional tourist attraction. The Karikulam branch is situated in Ranni, an area of Pathanamthitta district known for its rural landscape and proximity to the wider cultural and natural attractions of central Kerala. Visitors or residents looking for activities related to sports, fitness and martial arts may therefore find the school relevant when exploring local recreational opportunities. The organisation also has a documented presence elsewhere in Kerala, including branches and instructors in districts such as Kozhikode, Kannur, Idukki and Ernakulam. This wider network allows the Alan Thilak Karate School name to be associated with a broader martial arts training system while individual classes remain dependent on the local branch and instructor. For anyone searching for Alan Thilak Karate School in Pathanamthitta, karate classes in Ranni, or martial arts training in Karikulam, the available information confirms the existence of the local school and its focus on karate and self-defence. Current class timings, instructor availability, enrolment procedures, fees, age requirements and training schedules should be confirmed directly with the relevant branch before visiting, as these details may change. Alan Thilak Karate School is consequently best understood as a community-oriented martial arts and sports training facility, with karate education forming its central activity and Shito-Ryu practice providing an important part of its technical tradition. Its presence in Pathanamthitta adds a local option for people interested in learning karate, developing physical fitness and participating in organised martial arts training in Kerala.
