DESCRIPTION:Guruvayur Ekadasi is the principal Ekadasi celebration at the r
enowned Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple in Thrissur district and one of the
most important annual observances in the temple’s religious calendar. De
dicated to Lord Krishna\, worshipped as Guruvayurappan\, the temple is amo
ng Kerala’s most prominent pilgrimage centres and is celebrated for its
 traditional Kerala-style architecture\, ancient murals and long-establishe
d worship practices. Guruvayur Ekadasi falls on the Ekadasi\, or eleventh
day\, of the bright fortnight in the Malayalam month of Vrischikam\, gener
ally during November or December. The festival period begins well before t
he main Ekadasi day\, with Ekadasi Vilakku observances leading up to the c
elebration. Kerala Tourism identifies the month-long festival as being mar
ked by several important rituals\, including Udayasthamana Pooja\, the daw
n-to-dusk worship conducted on Ekadasi day\, and an eleven-day Carnatic mu
sic festival held in memory of the celebrated musician Chembai Vaidyanatha
Bhagavatar. On the main day\, devotees gather for special worship and dar
shan\, with the temple opening early for Nirmalya Darshan. The evening cel
ebrations culminate in Ekadasi Vilakku\, accompanied by a ceremonial proce
ssion featuring caparisoned elephants and traditional music. Another impor
tant observance is the memorial ceremony for Guruvayur Kesavan\, the renow
ned temple elephant\, while the procession to the Parthasarathi Temple com
memorates the traditional association of Lord…\n\nEvent page: https://ap
