About this place
Eloth temple, also described as Sree Eloth Nanadurga Bhagavati Temple, is a Hindu Devi shrine at Kizhakkumpuram in Manakkody, on the Manakkody–Pullazhi side of Thrissur, Kerala 680012. A published note with the devotional song Elothamme Saranam names Sree Nanadurga as the principal deity. Devotees address the goddess as Elothamma. The same note lists Sri Krishna, Sri Rama, and Vettekkaran as sub-deities, with Brahmarakshas, Annapurneshwari, and the Nagas also installed in the temple. For a visitor, those consecrations are the features to look for: one Bhagavati sanctum, and separate presences of Krishna, Rama, the hunter-guardian Vettekkaran, Annapurneshwari, a Brahmarakshas, and serpent worship.
The shrine stands in a residential stretch west of Thrissur city, among the kole paddy fields and canals of Pullazhi, Olarikkara, and Manakkody. The visit is a neighbourhood Devi darshan. People come for a short prayer to Elothamma, a lamp or flower offering, and a round of the sub-shrines before returning to the road. The approach itself shows western Thrissur: houses, small shops, and the edge of the kole wetlands, with Vadakkunnathan Temple and the Pooram ground at Thekkinkadu Maidan several kilometres to the east.
Nanadurga is worshipped here as a form of Durga. Krishna and Rama give the compound a Vaishnava presence beside the goddess. Vettekkaran is the guardian figure associated with the hunt and with protection of the shrine. Annapurneshwari is the form sought for food and household sufficiency. Naga worship, common in Kerala temple groves, is part of the same compound, and a Brahmarakshas installation is also named. Which of these can be seen from the pradakshina path, and which sit inside a closed shrine, depends on the layout that day. Read the board at each sanctum rather than assuming every deity is in one hall.
No public pooja clock, vazhipadu list, phone number, or festival calendar was found for this pin. Morning or early evening is the safer arrival, because many neighbourhood temples in Thrissur open then and close through the middle of the day. Dress, footwear, photography, and offerings should follow the notice at the gate. Men are often expected to wear a mundu, and women a saree, set mundu, or another dress the temple accepts. Children should stay with an adult. Offerings go through the priest or the counter named on the board. A special pooja or a group visit should be fixed only after someone at the shrine confirms that the rite is offered here. Festival dates, if the temple observes them, move with the Malayalam calendar and with the temple’s own notice.
Thrissur Railway Station is about 7 km by road. Cochin International Airport is about 55 to 60 km via NH-544. Kunnathangadi Bus Stop, on the Vatanappally–Kanjani–Thrissur road at Parakkad, is a little over 1 km west. Sakthan Thampuran Bus Stand is the city stand, about 6 to 8 km east. Hotel Niya Regency, Hotel Merlin International, and Hyatt Regency Thrissur are city stays several kilometres east. Confirm rooms and the drive before arrival.
A Subrahmanya Swamy temple stands about 450 metres west of this pin. Menoth Parambil stands about 450 metres south. Manakody Ayyappankavu is about 2 km farther south. Each is a separate shrine. A visit planned for Eloth temple should use this pin and the name Elothamma or Sree Eloth Nanadurga Bhagavati Temple. Confirm the day’s hours and offerings at the gate. Overall, Eloth temple can be described as a Devi Temple / Neighbourhood Bhagavati Shrine in Manakkody, Thrissur, centred on Sree Nanadurga, with Krishna, Rama, Vettekkaran, Annapurneshwari, Brahmarakshas, and Naga worship in the same compound.
