Established in 2011, the institute has built a reputation for combining classroom instruction with practical, industry-oriented learning, enabling students to develop technical skills through hands-on experience in professional studio environments. Among its short-term professional programmes, the One-Month Certificate Course in Still Photography is designed for beginners, photography enthusiasts, aspiring photojournalists, and media professionals who wish to develop a solid foundation in digital photography within a structured and intensive training format. The course begins with the fundamentals of photography, introducing students to different camera types, camera mechanics, lenses, exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO settings, focusing techniques, and camera controls, before progressing to creative concepts such as composition, framing, visual storytelling, design principles, colour, perspective, and lighting techniques. Practical sessions enable participants to understand how technical decisions influence image quality while encouraging them to develop their own photographic style. The curriculum further covers advanced digital photography, exposing students to professional shooting practices across genres such as portrait, fashion, product, commercial, nature and wildlife, and photojournalism, allowing learners to experience a variety of photographic applications. An important component of the programme is digital post-production, where students are introduced to professional image editing workflows, learning techniques for organizing, processing, enhancing, and preparing photographs for print and digital publication using industry-standard software. Throughout the programme, emphasis is placed on hands-on assignments, live demonstrations, outdoor shoots, and guided practical exercises, ensuring that theoretical knowledge is reinforced through real-world application. The faculty includes experienced photographers and visual media professionals who mentor students while sharing practical insights from the photography and film industries. As part of a film institute, photography students also benefit from exposure to the broader creative environment of filmmaking, cinematography, and visual storytelling, helping them understand the relationship between still photography and moving images. Located at 32/1536A, Kalavath Road, opposite Ernakulam Medical Centre, Palarivattom, Kochi, Kerala – 682025, the institute is easily accessible from different parts of Kochi and serves as a training destination for students pursuing careers in photography, media, advertising, digital content creation, and visual communication.
