DESCRIPTION:Aryankavu is an important Ayyappa pilgrimage centre in Kollam d
istrict and is home to the Aryankavu Sree Dharma Sastha Temple\, one of th
e five major temples in Kerala associated with Lord Ayyappa. The shrine is
located amid forested hills near the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border and follo
ws Tamil ritual traditions\, with Ayyappa worshipped here as a young deity
. During the Mandala–Makaravilakku pilgrimage season\, which forms the p
rincipal pilgrimage period at Sabarimala\, Aryankavu becomes an important
point of passage for devotees travelling through the eastern part of Keral
 a. The locality around the temple and highway accommodates the seasonal mo
vement of pilgrims\, while religious institutions and public agencies make
arrangements to support devotees during the busy pilgrimage period. Food
and other pilgrim-support services are an established part of the wider Sa
barimala pilgrimage network. The Travancore Devaswom Board’s official Sa
barimala facilities include annadanam at designated pilgrimage locations a
nd arrangements at important stopover centres\, reflecting the longstandin
g tradition of providing food to devotees. Aryankavu’s importance\, howe
ver\, should not be confused with the principal Sabarimala annadanam facil
ities at Pampa\, Nilakkal and Sannidhanam. The Aryankavu temple itself has
a distinctive religious identity. The official Sabarimala portal identifi
es it as one of Kerala’s five important Ayyappa temples and notes that i
ts major festivals include Pandiyan Mudippu…\n\nEvent page: https://app.
