DESCRIPTION:Aryankavu Kettukazhcha is associated with the festive tradition
 s of Aryankavu Sree Dharma Sastha Temple\, an important Ayyappa shrine in 
 the forested eastern part of Kollam district near the Kerala–Tamil Nadu 
 border. The temple is one of Kerala’s five important Ayyappa shrines and
  is distinctive for its worship of Lord Ayyappa in the form of a young dei
 ty\, known locally as Tiru Aryan. The temple follows rituals with strong T
 amil cultural influences\, reflecting Aryankavu’s location along the his
 toric mountain pass connecting Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The principal festiv
 al season at the shrine falls during the concluding period of the Sabarima
 la Mandala pilgrimage\, with Mandala Pooja and Thirukalyanam among the imp
 ortant celebrations observed in December. The Thirukalyanam\, or sacred ma
 rriage ceremony\, commemorates the traditional association of Sastha with 
 Pushkaladevi of the Sourashtra community and attracts devotees who come to
  participate in the distinctive rituals. Pandiyan Mudippu and Kumbhabhishe
 kam are also recognised among the temple’s important festivals. During t
 he festive season\, the temple and surrounding settlement take on a devoti
 onal atmosphere as pilgrims gather for special poojas\, prayers and tradit
 ional ceremonies. The temple’s architecture and setting add to the chara
 cter of the celebration: the shrine is built below the level of the adjoin
