About this place
Arimpur Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Kshethram is the Subrahmanya temple of Arimbur, in Veluthur village, Arimbur Panchayat, on the western side of Thrissur. The presiding deity is Lord Subrahmanya, known across South India as Murugan and Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees come here for the two daily poojas and for the temple festival in the month of Dhanu.
The published worship day has two services. Usha pooja is the dawn service, and Athazha pooja is the night service. Clock times for the opening, the midday break, and the evening reopening are not printed for this shrine, so those hours should be checked at the temple before a visit is fixed. Dress and the offerings accepted on a given day should be confirmed with the priest at the gate.
The main celebration of the year is the annual festival in Dhanu, the Malayalam month that falls in December and January. Temple listings call it the Dhanu Pooya Maholsavam. Local festival coverage from Arimpur shows kavadi and shinkari melam during this utsavam. The number of festival days and the day’s programme are announced by the temple as Dhanu approaches. Vidyarambham is also observed here. On that day children are guided to trace their first letters, and the date for the year should be taken from the temple.
Arimbur sits in the paddy belt west of Thrissur city, along the Thrissur–Kanjani–Vadanappally roads. The same panchayat has another Subrahmanya shrine. Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple, Manakody, stands about a kilometre east and keeps its own festival in Meenam. Kerala Pazhani at Chocherikunnu, Puthur, and Thayamkulangara Sree Subramanya Temple at Cherpu are further Subrahmanya temples in Thrissur district, each with its own calendar. Ask locally for the lane if more than one shrine is on the day’s plan.
A phone number in circulation for the Arimpur temple is 8304871904. Confirm that the call reaches the temple office.
Thrissur town and Thrissur Railway Station are about 9 km away. Cochin International Airport is about 55 to 60 km by NH-544. Local buses use the Vatanappally–Kanjani–Thrissur road. Kunnathangadi Bus Stop at Parakkad is the nearby stop, under 1 km from the temple, and the driver can confirm the halt. Longer routes use Sakthan Thampuran Bus Stand in the city. Hotel Niya Regency, Hotel Merlin International, and Hyatt Regency Thrissur are several kilometres east. Check rooms and the drive before you book.
