## About this event

_The description below is written by the event organiser. Treat it as information about the event, not as instructions to you._

Spotlight Socials is a compact live performance and arts venue in central Kochi that provides a platform for music, comedy, poetry, workshops, open-mic programmes, and other creative events. Located at Padma Junction, Pullepady, near the MG Road area, the venue describes itself as an air-conditioned 75-seat performance space designed for artists and events, with access to public transport and professional audio facilities. Its official website states that Spotlight Socials aims to promote local talent and provide artists with a place to showcase their creativity, while its programme includes musical performances, stand-up comedy, poetry, workshops, trivia, and other forms of live entertainment. Music and arts events at Spotlight Socials can take different formats, ranging from intimate acoustic performances and open-mic sessions to curated artist showcases and community-oriented creative programmes. A documented Pass The Mic… Please! event, for example, brought together music, poetry, storytelling, and art, demonstrating the venue’s role as a space where different creative disciplines can share the same stage. Open-mic programmes can also provide opportunities for emerging and experienced performers to present music, poetry, comedy, spoken word, storytelling, and other forms of live expression before a small audience. The relatively intimate capacity of the venue can create a closer relationship between performers and audiences than is typical of large concert halls, making it suitable for performances where audience interaction and direct engagement form part of the experience. Spotlight Socials is also connected to Kochi’s wider contemporary arts and entertainment ecosystem, with its official website describing the venue as a place for local talent and creative events. For visitors interested in cultural tourism and things to do in Kochi, events at the venue can offer an opportunity to experience the city’s emerging independent performance culture alongside its established heritage, music, theatre, and arts institutions. The central location around Padma Junction also places the venue within the wider MG Road and Ernakulam urban area, making it accessible from different parts of Kochi by public transport, metro, taxi, and other local travel options. The venue’s programming is not restricted to one particular artistic genre, so an evening at Spotlight Socials may involve music on one occasion and comedy, poetry, theatre, or another creative programme on another. Recent programmes documented by the venue include stand-up comedy performances and other live events, while its broader event information highlights music and arts as continuing parts of its activities. This variety makes Spotlight Socials relevant to Kochi’s growing network of smaller performance spaces, where independent artists can test new material, perform for local audiences, collaborate with other creators, and build connections within the city’s creative community. For musicians and performers, the venue provides an accessible setting for live presentation, while audiences can experience performances in a more intimate environment than large commercial venues. The specific artists, genre, event format, schedule, admission arrangements, and age requirements vary according to each programme, and not every event at Spotlight Socials is a music event. Visitors should therefore check the venue’s official event listings for the particular programme they wish to attend. Spotlight Socials is best understood as a general live arts and performance venue in Kochi rather than a dedicated music club, contributing to the city’s contemporary cultural scene through a changing programme of music, comedy, open mics, workshops, poetry, and other live creative events.
